Sherwani or jodhpuri suit: which should the groom wear?
Both the sherwani and the jodhpuri suit are classic Indian groom wear, but they suit different moments.
The sherwani A sherwani is long — usually below the knee — and is worn with a churidar or pajama, a stole and often a safa. It is the traditional choice for the main wedding ceremony. Heavy embroidery, zari and pearl work look best in day light and in photos.
The jodhpuri suit A jodhpuri (or bandhgala) is a short, structured jacket with a mandarin collar, worn with trousers. It looks royal but is lighter and easier to move in, which makes it perfect for the reception, engagement or a cocktail night.
How to decide - Wedding ceremony: sherwani with safa. - Reception or engagement: jodhpuri or indo-western. - Budget: rent the heavy sherwani, buy or stitch the jodhpuri you will wear again.
At Blazer & Kurta Craft in Varachha you can try both on the same day and rent, buy or stitch either one.
